A determined crowd of 1,000 braved a cold wind and scatttered showers to watch Johnny Roberts, NASCAR National Modified Champion, make it two at Fredericksburg Speedway Saturday night.

For Roberts of Baltimore it was the third feature in two days, having won two modified features Friday night at Richmond in a doubled rain date program. He was clocked at 14 seconds on the slick 1/4 mile oval.

Tester Tough at Westport

Baltimore, Md.-Bullet Bob Tester of Severn, Md., defending champion in the sportsman division at Westport Stadium's rebuilt 1/5 mile track will try for his second success of the season Saturday night, May 27.

For the holiday weekend, track director Bill Heiserman has listed the regular eight-race Sportsman-Modified and Hobby program for May 27, plus an extra attraction for Monday night, May 29. In the event of rain May 27, the regular Saturday night dashes will be run on Monday. Otherwise a special event will be carded for May 29.

Tester flashed to victory in the 25 lap Sportsman-Modified Derby on opening night(May 20) with Bob Ballentine second and Dan Ferguson third. Tester took the lead on the 15th turn of the track and held on for the victory. Bob, who has been racing at Westport for 11 years, praised the wider track. The track has been widened 10 feet since last year. Tester was particularly high in his praise of the wider turns.

Frank Cline took the first 20 lapHobby feature of the season with Jim Hahn second and Red Fouts third.
Vic Lewis and Ace Canupp won the 12 lap S-M qualifying events. Bidful Privett, Len Imhoff and Reds Fouts took the qualifying go rounds in the hobby class.
